Art Therapy

The benefits from art therapy can be experienced by individuals of all ages and promotes positive mental health in a wide range of settings. Art therapy is a therapeutic modality used in private practice as well as in community and social services.

A misconception about Art Therapy is that you need to be an artist. Art Therapy is therapy with the additional belief that each and every individual holds inherent creativity that enhances the therapeutic journey. In art therapy the emphasis is on the process of art creation, not on the final product.

The artwork plays an important role; when artwork is created, the artist has turned their inner world into tangible form. The artwork comes directly from or out of the emotional life of the client, and an emotion becomes a concrete shape, form or colour giving space for the client to create new structures of meaning and understanding.
